The King of Love

The King of Love My Shepherd Is | Monthly Melody

Monthly Melody

     February is here already!  This is the month when a lot of us think about love.  We think about the love of our families and friends.  This year, let’s also make it a priority to think about the ONE Who loves us more than anyone else does!  Jesus is the King of love, and that is what our Monthly Melody is about for February.

But God commendeth his LOVE toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.  Romans 5:8

     If this is your first time participating in the challenge, it’s easy to be a part of!  All you need to do is play the video at the bottom of this page to help you learn the song (or learn the words better if you already know the song).  Keep listening to it throughout the month until you have it down and then keep on singing it from time to time for the rest of the month.  It’s that simple!

     I don’t know about you, but I am already enjoying our brand new Monthly Melody challenge!  I hope February’s challenge will be even more of a blessing to each of you.  Try to listen to our hymn on a regular basis, and you may be surprised how it fits with your current situation and how the Lord keeps showing you new things you hadn’t noticed.

     It is easy for us to sing a song through and not really think about the words because our minds wander.  The Monthly Melody can help with that in two ways.  For one thing, if you don’t know the song you have to focus more on it!  Also, if you keep singing the same song over and over, you have more chances to think about it if your mind wandered the first time.  You also have the chance to pick one part to meditate on and then pick a new part the next time.  There are so many possibilities and benefits from learning new hymns!

     Now, I am familiar with the tune of this hymn because we have it on a CD.  But I didn’t really know the song before I started researching it to use.  This month, I would like to learn and memorize the words so that I can make this part of my song repertoire.

     Are you ready to start?  Here is our second Monthly Melody hymn!

The King of Love My Shepherd Is

The King of love my shepherd is,
whose goodness faileth never.
I nothing lack if I am his,
and he is mine forever.

Where streams of living water flow,
my ransomed soul he leadeth;
and where the verdant pastures grow,
with food celestial feedeth.

Perverse and foolish, oft I strayed,
but yet in love he sought me;
and on his shoulder gently laid,
and home, rejoicing, brought me.

In death’s dark vale I fear no ill,
with thee, dear Lord, beside me;
thy rod and staff my comfort still,
thy cross before to guide me.

Thou spreadst a table in my sight;
thy unction grace bestoweth;
and oh, what transport of delight
from thy pure chalice floweth!

And so through all the length of days,
thy goodness faileth never;
Good Shepherd, may I sing thy praise
within thy house forever.

Time to Sing!

     I hope and pray that this month you will be able to take the time to sing this hymn in praise to the King of love.

For God so LOVED the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.  John 3:16

  1. I for sure am going to! This fits perfectly with Psalm 23 which the Lord has been laying on my heart these past 2 months!! Thank you, Bethany!!

    1. I’m so glad you are joining, Rachel!! That’s wonderful that it goes along with your Psalm 23 meditation. I didn’t plan it on purpose, but our first 2 Monthly Melodies have been based on Psalms!
