5 Books I’ve Reread | Five Fall Favorites 2025

Welcome back to Five Fall Favorites 2025! It is quickly nearing the end, but don’t worry! There are still many more books to be shared and enjoyed.

Today, I’ll be sharing five books that I have reread. Please note that while I enjoyed each of these books, my listing them here does not mean that I agree with everything in them. Oh, and this is my second time participating in FFF, and I tried not to repeat any books I chose the first time, with one exception on Wednesday’s post.

Whether you prefer to read a book one time and pass it on, or you love reading your favorite books over and over again, I hope you’ll find some new stories today!

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

Psalm 119:105

1. Mag and Margaret by Isabella Alden

There was a time in her life, when she was called Margaret. I think her mother used that name when she first looked at her.

Once, when she was a little bit of a girl, and went to a free kindergarten for a few weeks, the sweet-faced teacher called her “Maggie.” But that was ever so long ago; centuries ago the thirteen-year-old girl thought. For years and years she had been called “Mag.” So long indeed that she had almost forgotten the other names. Mag Jessup was an orphan.

One of my closest friends and I have listened to this audiobook as a buddy read once or twice. It’s such a delightful story that may have a surprise or two in store. Mag is such a sweet girl and one who is such fun to spend time with! And Margaret? Well, you’ll just have to read it to see what you think of her.

2. Pollyanna by Eleanor H. Porter

When an orphaned Pollyanna moves in with her maiden aunt she transforms the lives of everyone she meets with her optimism.

She uses the “glad game” her father taught her to appreciate what she has – until one day something so terrible happens that even Pollyanna doesn’t know how to feel glad about it.

I have a copy of this book that belonged to my grandma, and that only makes this darling story all the sweeter! I love Pollyanna’s positive attitude, and this story is good for a lot of chuckles. There is a sequel, but I’m not as fond of it as I am the original story. If you haven’t read Pollyanna, do consider giving it a try!

3. Fiddlesticks and Freckles by Sam Campbell

Fiddlesticks and Freckles carries you away into the Wisconsin wilderness where the Campbell family adopts two orphan fawns.

You will meet a host of forest friends in an exciting array of adventures—some hilarious, others sad. Throughout, the author shares those secret lessons revealed through God’s natural world.

The Sam Campbell books have a special place in my heart, and this is the first one we ever read. My Mom has read just about the whole series to us and some books, like this one, more than once. We used to pack along a Sam Campbell book or two when we were going on family vacation. Do note that there was some content in some of the books that Mom chose to skip over when she was reading them aloud. But I don’t think this book was one of those. If you like animals and humor, you would probably enjoy this series based on true stories!

4. Stories from the Old Squire’s Farm by C. A. Stephens

Written one hundred years ago, this collection of rich tales follows the lives of six young children living in rural Maine after the Civil War.

“Some of the very best stories of New England life and character that have ever been written.” — Hartford Daily Courant

If Sam Campbell was Mom’s choice for read aloud, Old Squire’s Farm was Dad’s. He read them to the family and would sometimes read a story or two when we had company over. Especially the one about vermifuge. That one had people roaring with laughter.

5. Stories Worth Re-Reading by Collection

Here are 72 touching stories of inspiration originally compiled by Review & Herald in 1910 to provide children and youth with worthwhile reading.

This is excellent family reading and a treasure house for pastors and teachers who tell children’s stories.

Since this is a post about re-reading, including this book seemed too perfect of an opportunity to pass up. Now, confession time here. I have never read this book from cover to cover and probably haven’t read all of the stories. But there are favorites that I have enjoyed over and over. They definitely are worth reading and re-reading! Especially the one where the dad gave his sons a strange test to see if they would follow through. That’s one of my very favorites.

Today is your last day to enter the giveaway, so don’t miss it!

A lot of the bloggers participating in FFF have contributed books for two people to win. Since there were so many books donated, this year we have not one but two giveaways! And yes, one of the books in the second place prize is Willow, by yours truly. (Please note that I have not read all of these books, so this is not an endorsement of their content.)

Are you ready to continue the party? There are a lot more books being recommended today! If you’d like to find links to guide you to all of the participating blogs, you can do that at Kate’s blog, where she is co-hosting FFF. And please check out the other blogs on my team and see what books they’re recommending! I’ll be joining you over there.

Let’s Chat!

I love the “stories worth re-reading”–perfect! I’m so intrigued to know what they considered worthy of rereading a hundred and some-odd years ago. 😀
