May Monthly Melody | 2021

     Hello May, and hello my friends!  God has brought us safely through another month and into a fresh new one.  Don’t you just love fresh starts?  I’m so glad that God gave us nights for resting and having a fresh start in the mornings, as well as new seasons, months, and years.

     I think fresh starts can serve as reminders that we once again have a chance to choose to do right in God’s strength.  Which brings us to our new Monthly Melody!  I’m sure most of you knew that was where I was headed, didn’t you?

     Our song this month is More Like the Master.  It is a song reflecting the heart’s desire of every Christian who longs to be more like Jesus.  The chorus is a prayer to the Lord.  Good resolve is never enough to make us like Jesus.  It is only through His strength that we can become like Him.

Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 3:13-14

     I won’t keep you waiting any longer!  Go ahead and take a minute to read through the words of this hymn and listen to the video.  And don’t just listen today!  I’ll be listening throughout the month to learn the words and have a new hymn to sing and meditate on.  Care to join me?

More Like the Master

More like the Master I would ever be,
More of His meekness, more humility;
More zeal to labor, more courage to be true,
More consecration for work He bids me do.

Chorus:
Take Thou my heart, I would be Thine alone;
Take Thou my heart and make it all Thine own.
Purge me from sin, O Lord, I now implore,
Wash me and keep me Thine forevermore.

More like the Master is my daily prayer;
More strength to carry crosses I must bear;
More earnest effort to bring His kingdom in,
More of His Spirit, the wanderer to win. (Chorus)

More like the Master I would live and grow;
More of His love to others I would show;
More self-denial, like His in Galilee,
More like the Master I long to ever be. (Chorus)
